My HP Laser Jet 8610 stopped communicating with the Computer.
So, I was thinking how do others decide on a new printer?

It has been years since I have looked at manufacturers and since there
have been changes in technology.
I'm looking more toward Ink Jet and up to 11 by 17 inch paper. Duplex
printing prefer but not absolutely required.

Who is a good choice of manufacturers now? What has work for others here?==========================================
The choice between Ink Jet or Laser really comes down to how much printing you do. Even color lasers are affordable now. If you print a lot a laser will be cheaper per page than an ink jet. A photo quality laser will be pricey, but ink costs are a lot more per page than laser. Of course you probably know this already!

Most HP printers have double sided capability, ink jets and lasers.

Is this for a CoCo or another computer? Most modern printers only have a USB port. Something like the retroprinter would be great for a CoCo if it would take the serial port data and convert to PDF for output to a USB printer. The parallel input would require a serial to parallel converter as well. Seems like the RPi could do the serial/parallel conversion and output easy enough, just needs some programming!
