Obviously I did not explain myself properly.
The MBR of the hard drive got 'trashed".
I can recreate the MBR but will be replacing the actual drive. I can either
reload XP (the end of life for XP doesn't bother me since the only thing
that I usually update is Java) or load and older version of WIndows (98,
ME, NT4.0) or a newer version (Vista, WIn7) or use Linux.
Learning Linux is not the issue as the only use for this system will be as
a dedicated DW server.

So, for a dedicated DW Server, XP or Linux or ???
