Thank you to all who responded (and I enjoyed the discussion on the 
internals of the processor; I could almost see the timing diagram 
melting down in my head). I guess I'll just keep them in mind if I 
absolutely need one for the future (hmm - I wonder how fun a 
multi-processor 6809 board with shared memory would be?) - they've 
probably been sitting in the drawers for 10 years, they'll probably 
still be there in another 10.
