Beta particles are high energy electrons and alpha particles are helium nuclei (two protons and two neutrons) stripped of electrons, slower than beta but something over 7000 times as much mass.

There's never been a letter name for neutron radiation, which is the main output of most fission processes.  And the thing from a plutonium pile that can kill you almost as fast as actually ingesting some of the plutonium.  (Highly toxic [chemically, not just rads] heavy metal).
