Yes, thanks, I've thought of this as a way to get rid of possible boot  
viruses.
Norton AV says I have 3 boot records, one master.  Unclear what the  other 2 
are.  Of course Norton never finds any viruses.
 
My PC sped up nicely after I de-fragged by HD.  Now that I've cleaned  some 
unused entries out of the registry, it seems slow again.
