Way back, as the Internet was developing, we had FidoNet which linked the
worlds BBS's and there were several Coco Nets on Fido [Coco, OS-9 and
another]. The Coco BBS software that many of the Fido Coco Sysops used was
RiBBS. That was where I first met our loyal Cocoist who lives downunder and
a few other Aussies. Several others from those days are still here, [you know
who you are]. RiBBS ran in the background so the Coco was still usable by the
Sysop. When I say that it implies the OS-9 operating system.

A while back we had a BBS that we could telnet to, unfortunately I have lost
the I.P. address so I don't know if it is still alive.

I was Sysop for the Toronto Coco U.G. BBS for its last few years and the
owner of the Fido Coco-nets when we [almost all] moved to the Internet.
Fido and the Coco groups lived on for awhile and then I lost touch. There is
Linux and Windows BBS software for P.C's so you don't have to create
anything. And you won't be limited to the now horrible speeds of those old
modems.

I believe the software is available on the Coco rtsi site for many of the old
BBS systems. RiBBS is there but I don't believe that it is the latest
version that I used. It does need the Sysop to be fairly OS-9 aware so it
wouldn't do for a learner. It works as a local BBS, but you may not find
anyone to log on to your BBS.
