Gif also supports animation, with multiple images "playing" in sequence over 
and over.  I have a few saved files like this.  They are pretty compact, being 
made from colored line drawings (one shows a piano action working).

Yes, GIF suffers for high quality color photos because it forces everything 
into 256 colors, making for a "grainy" look on smooth surfaces.  I doubt 
anything we'd be archiving for Coco relevance would matter about this -- not that 
many photos, and they're mostly shades of gray, where GIF shines.

And we know Coco screen saves won't go over 256 colors (usually 4 or 16)!
