As a temporary fix I wrote a quick program called diskoff that does the 'POKE 65497,0'
Then prompts you for the physical DRIVE number you will be using

Simple fix for now

Hi. I'm I just did a

POKE 65497,0

Then

DSKINI1

The disk formated and gave the

'OK' prompt

Is there a fix that can be made to the SDC dos so I don't need to do the highspeed POKE before the DSKINI

BTW thanks Arthur. The POKE did the trick

Sounds like the problem is that interrupts are not getting re-enabled, so
that the timer for shutting off the drive motor has stopped counting down.
