Tommy,
Can you clarify? Is the $119 & $449 before or after applying the $50/$200 discount code? And is there an expiration on those discounts?

Thanks,
-Brian

Discounts available on YDNA tests thru tomorrow, 3/31.
Attached is a compilation of articles published in our most recent RFA quarterly Dispatch newsletter explaining how YDNA testing can be useful for your Reynolds family history research.
Are you considering YDNA testing your Reynolds line for the first time? We recommend you start with either a 37 marker test for $119 or a BigY test for $449 BigY. Your budget will determine which option is best for you. Details on what you'll get for each are included below. $50 off Y-37 Code: GGC19Y37
$200 off Big Y-700 Code: GGC19BIGY
Have you already YDNA tested and considering upgrading to BigY? BigY is the recommended YDNA test for almost any Reynolds family history researcher. Below are prices and coupon codes for upgrades to BigY from different levels of STR testing.Y12 - Big Y 700 $449 GCC19122BY
Y25 - Big Y 700 $449 GCC19252BYY37- Big Y 700 $449 GCC19372BYY67- Big Y 700 $399 GCC19BYUPY111- Big Y 700 $349 GCC19BYUP
Additional $50 off: The Reynolds Family Association has donated $500 to provide $50 subsidies to each of 10 Reynolds men that order a BigY test. We have 5 of these subsidies still available. If you're interested in the additional $50 discount (in addition to the sale price listed above), send me an email. I'll let you know how to order and apply the additional $50 off your BigY.

Feel free to be in touch with any questions.

Recommended Reynolds YDNA TestingStrategies:

Herewe identify two potential strategies to help folks get started with theReynolds YDNA Project. Which option you pursue will largely be determined byyour budget. If you have already tested and want upgrade strategyrecommendations, feel free to be in touch.

Option 1 – Starter Pack: Test yourself (or your Reynoldsline male representative: brother, uncle, male cousin, etc.) with 37 STRmarkers. Cost $119. What will you get with Option 1?

1.      Youwill see if you have genealogically relevant matches. Will they be Reynoldses?

2.      Youcan get a hint of whether your male line ancestors have been called Reynoldsfor many generations.

3.      Newmatches appear over time--how many and how often depends on how common yourlineage is; some people have hundreds of matches some people have less than five.

4.      Youcan probably be placed by Project administrators into one of the ~40 distinctgroups of genetically related Reynoldses.

5.      Theancient haplogroup estimate you’ll receive will also show you who you DON'Tmatch. Who you DON’T match is critically useful information for your research. For example, it has proven that my Joseph Reynolds is NOT related to CorneliusReynolds that also lived nearby in Arkansas in late 1800s. It also proves thatmy Joseph is NOT the son of Isaac Reynolds of Northern KY in the early 1800s,in spite of what the Tillman book and every single tree on Ancestry.comsuggests. Knowing my line is not connected to these Reynoldses has savedcountless hours of research effort.

Option 2 – The Trailblazer: Test yourself (or your Reynoldsline male representative: brother, uncle, male cousin, etc.) with BigY. Cost~$449. Then persuade or wait for another Reynolds in your lineage/Group to alsodo a BigY test. This other Reynolds could either be a descendant from adifferent son of your most distant Reynolds ancestor. This is a team sport and the decision of any memberto upgrade actually benefits everyone in the genetic group. What you get withOption 2?

1.      Allbenefits of Option 1, detailed above.

2.      Muchhigher confidence and refinement in STR matching.

3.      Ahigh-resolution genetic profile of the SNP mutations that occurred in your Reynoldsy chromosome: from thousands of years ago as people spread out around the sixcontinents right down your recent "genealogical" SNPs from the pastfew hundred years.

4.      Yourlineage’s "personal" SNPs that are not previously known to familyhistorians or scientists. Some of these SNPs are shared among your known andunknown Reynolds cousins. Using these SNPs will be key for identifying thehaplogroup of your most distant Reynolds ancestor and confirming connections with other researchers.
