What do you mean by this? What location does it default to?

What system are you running?

I'd guess that the problem is probably arising because you are using long
path names. Papyrus runs as a DOS program, and hence uses the abbreviated
names (usually the first six characters, followed by ~1 and then the
extension). You can get Papyrus to follow the paths (usually by eliciting
a menu).
Use the backspace key to delete the existing path, and then enter c:\ (or
whatever disk you wish) and then enter a return. (If you had a short path,
you could have typed in the full thing - this is the lazy typist's approach
I'm giving here.) Papyrus will respond with a wildcard (* ) in the
filename field. Hit Enter again. Papyrus will show you the options. Select
the one you want, and hit Enter.
Once it has found your path, it will remember it. (The same holds for text
extract.)

However, I've found it FAR easier to just set up a sub-directory called
pap, and put the new database there. Mine is on my C drive, but you can
also put it on a server.

If you contact me off list, I can send you a manual we created for our
students here. It has a lot of our own conventions, but might be
helpful. We've found it a great package.

Sincerely
