Dear Papyrus community,
(Let's face it, we are one.)
Well, I also am saddened. I can only imagine the headaches and heartaches
this legal battle has meant for Dave. I for one do not feel betrayed; I do
believe that Dave in good faith thought he could pull it out. I too have
been involved in projects that I thought would work, until the last moment.
The most important ones were life projects (marriage, etc) that were more
than "just work". I always felt that Papyrus was more than "just work" for
Dave.

Part of the charm of using Papyrus was that it had a personality- and that
personality no doubt was partly Dave's!
Dave, good luck in what ever you do!

With respect to future-Papyrus, I still do like the idea of a
lean-and-mean Windows-compatible version. That means competing with the
Microsoft-bundled Word-"imbedded" programs, which seems almost
insurmountable for anything except a niche environment. So- the niche is
the only place to go. However, in ecology, it seems that species that
occupy small niches have a high extinction rate. However, it is not
_necessary_ that this happens.

There are sound reasons to want a product that is NOT Microsoft/Word
imbedded.
I for one would be willing to pay for a version that has really good
access to the Windows clipboard. This is more important than having a
"windows" version with hot bells and whistles. The ability to launch from
within Papyrus, for example, to access a web link, can be mimicked SO
easily with a good copy and paste manouvre.
