I'm not sure this is a true "reverse engineering" system. It looks like
he got the parts list (clearly available) and hand built his own CoCo.
Not to say that that isn't a noble challenge but it's really not RE. I
would wonder more why would one do it? I guess the only answer I could
think of would be 'just to have something to do'.

Anyone on the list able to sign into redit should make him aware of
the CoCoList, and let him know about all the cool stuff that will work
with his dad's CoCo Clone! (I would if I had a redit account).
I don't have a redit account, and have no intention of getting one to
add
to my ready supply of daily spam.
So I can't see that bit of handiwork, but that doesn't stop me from
doffing my hat in respect as I've done things like that in the distant
past when my mind was a bit more agile. The most difficult and time
burning part is getting into the original builder/coders head. Fail at
that, and the project will likely fail, succeed at that, and the rest
of
it almost always falls into place in a few days. Much faster than your
hands can build it.

I once had the opportunity to reverse engineer an ISA Ethernet

But to be talking to your coworker and just say, "Hey let's build a
clone of this Color Computer. We'll just reverse engineer the
original, make our own PCB and pop in the ROMs" That is a level to
be admired and respected.
Absolutely.
A true DaVinci of electronics! Salvador
