Thanks. That worked.
But still seems weird. When I use HDBDOS and my superIDE the 'DRIVE #' command switches the entire hard drive.

This is how HDBDOS works and is normal.
Either enable "HDBDOS mode" in Drivewire, or use the DRIVE # commands as
described in hdbdos documentation. It's not what most ppl expect, but it
is standard for this scenario.
