Done deal.

I don't have the experience to repair this. I will take u up on your offer and hopefully Mark will be able to sell me a replacement at cocofest

My heart sank when I accidentally bumped my MPI. The coco went black. I unplugged the MPI and hooked the coco up by itself; but it was still dead.
I then opened the coco and pulled out the pro Tector. Unseated the 6309 from it and replaced the CPU without the satellite board. Plugged it in and it was good as new.

‎For me this board was worth it since I don't have spare 6309's and would probably misplace them if I did

The protector can easily be repaired, but it can be a time consuming undertaking.
It consist most of buffer IC logic and those can be replaced, to save time replace them all. If you not done SMD before then you need someone who does, unless you want to experiment yourself.
I can look at it and my fee is $0, not that my work is that bad but I like more to trade or swap something.
There will be cost though, the new chips and the mailing from you to me and back.

Maybe its more easier to buy a new one for $25.

I will take the old one for $10 + Shipping ( USPS if possible )
This is almost 50% return.
Let me know what you decide.

Last time I checked, the Pro Tector costs $25 (plus shipping).

A new 6309E CPU costs $3 (or less plus shipping) OR a 6809E CPU for $5 from Jameco (plus shipping).

I believe it's more economical to buy a couple of CPUs and have them as spares.

Seems like the pro Tector did its job. Now the question? Can the blown pro Tector be repaired? , or does it need to be replaced?
