Ron, On the Glenside IDE, the "L1" pins are for the power LED. Not really needed unless you want one.
In using the Glenside unit in an MPI, be carefull. The board has no guides so it's easy to shift it too far right or left (same in the Coco slot but not as bad) and short the pins.
I have mine configured in NitrOS9 for 2x 4gig partitions and haven't had a problem other than it getting bumped and losing connection.
Brian Goers has some of the headers for the empty slots (I think) or can tell you where to get them. Mine only has one installed, but it's in an MPI so it doesn't matter anyway. I have use it with the disk controller on the header and it worked great, but I needed my CocoMIDI pak and Orch90 plugged in so I switched to the MPI.

I still haven't heard from Brian, but I think he was settling his mother's estate, from the last message I saw, so it may be a while before he's back online. It's my understanding that they're going to do another run of the boards in the future.
