[Coco] CoCo3 FPGA project analog boards

Hi Mike,
I saw your message and thought I'd just chime in because I have some info that might help you. There have been two different SRAM chips used on the DE1s over the years. If you buy a new DE1 right now you'll get a chip with a 'BLL' suffix, I believe. This is the chip that has caused us a lot of headaches with the CoCo3FPGA because the timing is just a little different. The older DE1s use a chip with an 'AL' suffix and it seems to work just fine.

I have replaced the 'BLL' chips on a number of DE1 boards with the 'AL' chip and they all work great after that. The process of replacing the chips is a delicate matter because it's a surface mount chip that requires a little skill, determination, and patience to replace. What I have been doing is acquiring second-hand DE1 boards, replacing the chips, and making them available to whomever wants them. Generally, I can make them available for around $95 depending on the price for which I acquired them. I've had as many as four 'in stock' at a time and right now I have one which is earmarked for a gentleman who has asked me to hold it for him. As I find good deals on them I try to scoop them up, refurb them if needed, and make them available to those who are interested. I am primarily doing this to promote Gary Becker's CoCo3FPGA/DE1 project which I believe is a worthy cause and an excellent synthesis of the CoCo 3.

If you're interested in a refurb'ed DE1 let me know and I can probably get one for you in less than a month or so.
