[Coco] OT: 3D Printers...

Hmm - I wish this had been posted a bit earlier (like 2 weeks ago).

A kickstarter just wrapped up for a low-cost 3D printer:

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/tiko3d/tiko-the-unibody-3d-printer

Yup - that's right - a 3D printer for $179.00! I loved it so much, I
backed it for 2 units.

They were originally asking for $100,000 - but in the end wound up with
close to $3 million and over 16,000 backers! I haven't seen a response
to a KS like this since the Oculus Rift (the first KS I backed).

That said, I don't know if the Tiko could print the SDC case (ie - I
don't know if the case would fit on the build platform - it might) - but
for $179.00 - if they get all their orders out, and things don't
crumble, etc - well, I couldn't resist.

I've also been collecting parts to build my own 3D printer someday (I
have way too many "someday" projects - lol).

So - anyone wanting a 3D printer might want to wait a while longer; if
Tiko is successful with the project, the design could be a game changer
in how 3D printers are designed and sold, to bring 3D printing down to a
very affordable level.
