Hi Chad (and all),
By all means feel free to build and sell whatever you like. :)
This is a hobby for me, and I’m just offering the stuff I come up with to anyone in the group
who may be interested.
I’m going to leave these as through-hole as they’re just about done, and I know there are people
that prefer through-hole for soldering that may want to put one together. I’m not sure how much
space would be saved by SMT anyway, as you’re pretty much stuck with the 1372 and electrolytics,
which take up a lot of the room. You could save about 50% of the space taken by resistors and the
ceramic caps though. Plus, I’d like to get them wrapped up and move on to other projects.
I totally agree the CoCo’s need better video options. With the replacement board for the modulator,
there’s a composite option. I’m working on better options beyond that for MC6847 based machines
as well. Component, VGA, maybe even HDMI (overkill, but fun to figure out). I’ve got the ADC with
conversion to 8-bit digital RGB portion just about worked out (will be ordering prototypes soon).
From there there the video can be converted to the various other standards.
