Robert,
The JV Coco 3 1.19 (correction to your 1.71 & 1.91) is John Collyer's 6309 version and not Jeff's official release, though I'm sure John had permission.
Version 1.17 was a beta 6809 version (by Jeff) with enhanced graphics and extra memory support. Jeff also supplied the sources to 1.17 (which John used for 1.19).

Jeff's "official" releases (and available on his site) were:
Coco 2 ver 1.16 (Public Domain w/sources)
Coco 3 ver 1.16 (Public Domain)
Coco 3 ver 1.17 (Beta w/sources)

Coco 3 ver 1.15 was sold as Commercial release Only, NOT public domain. Identifiable by the Regestered User's name in the title splash. Jeff states this is probably the fastest and most stable vesion.

Also, Jeff did not distribute roms with ANY of his releases. At the time of his releases, copyright was still a question and he provided a means to copy your original Coco roms instead. He states on his site that he does not supply or link roms.
John's release "may" have had roms, I don't remember, but I don't think so.

As for the disk formt and access, I do remember having problems with some disks and having to copy them to others but I don't remembe the issues. You could check the sources to 1.17 and see what causes the issues I'm sure.

I can run the Coco 2 and 128k Coco 3 in DosBox, but cannot get the 512k, 1, 2, & 16 Meg features to run in such due to DosBox's not having EMS memory support. I may have an older system going soon in MSDOS and may be pulling these old emulators out again :-)

BTW... Does anyone know what happened to John Collyer? He's another one that "just disappeared" on us.

To prevent confusion, here is more information about the JVC emulators. You
would expect them to make use of the JVC disk header information, making the use

of double sided disks transparent to a user.

The two versions of the JVC Coco3 emulator I have 1.71 and 1.91 ignore the JVC
disk header. Other versions of the emulator may support disk header info. There
will be problems using NitrOS-9 disk images with the above emulator versions.
