Actually, it also happens if I send the command on the little command 
line at the bottom, like:
dw disk insert 0 /home/pi/CoCo_Disk_Images/nos96809l2v030209coco3_becker.dsk

So I doubt it is a GUI issue.  What would cause the read to time out 
loading a disk image from a local filesystem?
