This is because opendns is rather evil and violates the rules of DNS
by returning their own advertising instead of an nx domain result when
a record does not exist.  It causes problems and confusion.  Their
entire business model seems to be based on abusing DNS for profit.

For free DNS that does not violate RFCs, you can use google:

8.8.8.8
8.8.4.4

or just use your ISP's, they will generally be faster.
