There are different modelsof the 6809.

The coco needs the 68B09E, where E is the most important value.
It lets you know that this chip needs external clock circuit.

I believe the B stands for the speed ( B= 1Mhz C=2Mhz) or the type of
technologie ( Cmos or other ), I 'm not shure of this anymore. The
datasheet will set this strait.

So if youre device has the clock circuits on the mainboard thenyou need E
type cpu, if not hen the 68B09 or 68C09 should work.
