IMHO I think you're being a little too unrealistic and hard on the guy.
You can't "glean" an FPGA implementation of a CPU off a group of hobbyists
that use a computer with said CPU. He may have gathered information for
his work from members here, but the step between that and a working 6809
IP core is quite considerable. And looking at the breadth of his CPU IP
core library, he's obviously well educated in CPU architectures. So I'm
not really sure what pearls of wisdom he may have 'stolen' from the group?!?

You also have to understand that his IP is, or rather was, his
bread-and-butter. Once he releases the core to a hobbyist group, then it's
effectively in the public domain and whether licenced or not, there's
little incentive for someone to purchase his core.

Having said all that, I'm not privy to what transpired between him and the
group (or at the very least, can't recall) so feel free to disagree with
my sentiments.
