[Coco] Looking for "C" utils

Yep, Mike said he had to bang on these ocassionally to get them to spin... they're spinning up... just not to speed. Motors whir, heads chatter.. then h0 goes peep peep.... h1 goes peep, peep, peep, peep. I assume 2 peeps means ok, drive reads. the 4 peeps give error 47 from then on.
As I said before... I can read h0 for about 30-40 minutes before it starts giving error 47. The files are there, just no way to get them to the PC. I have them saved to a 3.5" floppy. My regular PC has no floppy drive or connections for one. I have another that I'm working on getting it to read coco disks but no luck yet. My wife and I are on fixed income and have a tight buget so I have to wait a bit before I can order the cable for drivewire. I also have to get a USB to serial adapter as my PC has no DB-9. It will all come together soon.
I really appreciate the help Stephen, Mind if I pick your brain from time to time on C code? I always worked in Asm or Basic09, I messed with C for about a month with OS9 Level 1 then Level 2 came out and I like basic09 being so much faster under lv2 and RMA was awsome. I just never got back to C.

Thanks Again!

Hi,
If this was football season I would say "Punt".
I banged hard many times on my first Hard Drive to get it to spin, a Seagate
ne that I had to drive over the hill to get formatted with 256 byte
ectors.
With 256 Byte sectors no data recovery company will help you.
Unless you get very luckily you may be dead in the water with no rescue
ossible.
I have searched in vain for "rcr".
If and only if you have all the source and libs (Source for unusual ones)
hen asking the previous owner for help might unearth "rcr".
Otherwise, go onto another task. IMHO
But then:

Floor spin it

Seagate drives like this one had a common problem Seagate tech support
alled "a stiction problem". The spindle would get stuck, possibly because
he lubricant used would coagulate. All you had to do to correct this was
isconnect the drive from its cables, and put it on the floor, PCB side up,
nd give it a strong flick of the wrist. Usually spinning it around created
nough centrifugal force to get the platters spinning again.
When I bought used MFM and RLL hard drives, I'd pay less for one which had
ircular scratches on the top of the case, since I suspected they had to be
evived by the floor spin method.

Stephen, when I recieved the system, I couldn't get the HDs up. After
later inspection, it seems that through the years a screw had worked loose
and was rattling around. Apparently in shipping the screw was sent flying
around. When I opened the case, the screw had lodged on the power supply
board and shorted it. I have a temp PS from a very old IBM server going
but it 's older than the drives and seems flakey. It measures ok with a
meter but I think it fluctuates as it heats up. I can usually read H0 for
about 30 mins then I loose it due to loss of speed. H1 will not spin up
fast enough to pass the speed test at all. These are Seagate ST-225s on a
Burke & Burke interface. My floppie drives all seem to suffer some
problems... all so similar that makes me wonder if there's a Coco problem.
The only drive I have stable at the moment is a 3.5" 80trk. I'm trying to
get as much of the stuff from the HDs as I can before I can no longer read
them. And yes, all the old disks seem to ha
ve at least some bit rot if not comepletely lost already. This system has
 a Disto 2meg board(s) and I'm beginning to wonder if there's a bad memory
 chip as well.
