Ultimaterm is CoCo 3 specific.

For the CoCo 1 & 2 there is MikeyTerm (latest release is v4.7) and
Greg-E-Term (the manual says it v1.0) - those two are my personal workhorses
in that order of preference.

The VIP package (Word Processor, Spreadhseet, Database) also had a Terminal
package, I never used it and what I remember from the reviews was that it
was a decent offering but not to the level of the shareware MikeyTerm or
Greg-E-Term.

OS9's Deskmate for Level I offers a usable terminal package as well, not too
many bells and whistles there but good enough to allow BBS access.

MikeyTerm & Greg-E-Term can be found at ftp://rtsi.com/RSDOS/TELECOM/

All terminal packages are best enjoyed with a real RS232 pak, but the
bitbanger can be coaxed to work with a few compromises thrown in, specially
on the CoCo 1 & 2 series. How to make the cable required for this can be
found at ftp://rtsi.com/RSDOS/HARDWARE/cococabl.txt

As far as the modems go, if you can get your hands on a regular Hayes
compatible 2400 or even 9600 modem that would work great with the CoCo, but
you should be able to use a newer 33 or even 56 capable external modem
although not at their top data rate capability.
