You're a hardware guy.  Fair enough.

Are you telling me it is not possible for the CPU to be told the 
first address to start running code from?  That's what it sounded 
like you said.

Certainly the CPU can be forced to jump to $C000 if something on the 
motherboard wanted to do that, no?
