[Coco] bye

I can relate to the "lost posts" issue. I've posted many CoCo-update
messages in the past, which got Zero responses, while other topics,
usually not CoCo related, blasted my then-dialup bandwidth. Even
with my recent move to high-speed, I still don't care for the many
offtopic messages here. I'm a bit guilty, though. I've posted a few
messages myself that just didn't belong here. The funny thing is,
they got more replies than my CoCo topics.

May I suggest the moderated CoCo forums at coco3.com. Many of the
forums are moderated by myself and several CoCo gurus who hang out on
the site. You can post questions and get quick answers. Not that
you can't do the same on a mailing list, but you usually get several
worthy replies and a notice by e-mail if you prefer letting you know.

There's also the idea I've had of a CoCo-elite mailing list, which
anybody can probably host. Many hosting plans come with a mailing
list feature similar or the same as this one. I know it's a bit of
work setting it up and maintaining a list, but I think an
elite-members only list aside all other methods we use to hang out,
would benefit certain CoCo gurus. Even with such a list, we still
need to maintain all present lists and forums that are in place on
the web. They all serve a good purpose.

Another idea is to just set up a filter that deletes anything from
this list that doesn't have some kind of commonly-known flag in the
subject line. [CoCo] seems to be the present flag. Perhaps an
additional word could be used like [CoCo-Only] or [CoCo-Guru] would
help weed out the topics considered trash by a given user.
