Since the parts have already been tested once by the manufacturer, any speed with 
in the specified range will work to test as to whether the device is functional. 

Motorola specified the B parts to run up to 2MHZ guareanteed. Most will actually 
surpass that limit by about 10%. Some will exceed that spec by as much as 50%. 
Digital circuits run all the way up to a frequency where they stop mainly due to 
propogation delays inherent with the fabrication of the IC.
