[Coco] Microsoft files for patent on "modular operating system"

You have to read the patent filings to determine what they cover. They may not 
directly relate to how the OS works but on how you implement security in Unix. 
Originally Unix had very little security. Only with time did Unix gain the suecurit y 
it now has. 

Yes MS may very well be moving towards a Unix  core with Vista. Windoze NT 
through XP is heavily influenced by Vax VMS. Since six of the seven original 
archetects of NT were from DEC including teh chief archetect  of VMS. With 
Vista we may well be seeing the last of the VMS influence on Windoze products.
