Its probably easier, and definitely prefered in terms of heat generation, 
to just remove all the psu parts, hang a 4 pin trailer connector out the 
back and hook it up to a std pc type switching power supply.  That 
removes 99.5% of the heat from a coco, any of them.  With a 2 meg disto 
kit, and a 63C09 in it, I can throw heavy furniture moving blankets over 
mine and get a 2 degree rise in temps after several hours.  FWIW, this 
would let you add a jumper or 2 on the coco3 and restore the missing + 
& - 12 volts on the cart connector.  I use the ground, plus 5 volts and 
the two 12 volt lines in the 4 pin hookup I'm using.
