The idea is to use it for communications to/from other computers using 
uni-directional protocols.  Packets can be sent back and forth (as in 
Xmodem, etc.) and also custom protocols used in embedded applications.

True, for all practical purposes there is hardly a difference in 38400 bps 
and 57600 bps but there will come a time when the highest speed is preferred.

Printing is usually not supported over a null-modem bitbanger cable due to 
the Busy line being used for anothe purpose.  However, if the sending 
computer can hold that same line high then the CoCo could print into the 
host computer as if it were a real printer, etc.
