I couldn't really remember, so I tried it again: detect_ide21.b09
says: (some words dropped because I'm lazy)

Drive 0
ATA Identified
Model #= WDC AC2700H
Firmware = 20.21B29
Serial = XXX
Configuration= 0x427A
Logical Cylinders = 1416
Logical Heads = 16
Logical Sectors = 63
CHS mode  sectors = 1427328
16 sectors / multiple
LBA
LBA mode sectors = 1427328
PIO timing = 1
current logical cylinders = 0
current logical heads = 0
current logical sectors = 0

I dunno, looked alright to me. Used makedesc to create a couple of
96M LBA partitions, built a boot disk with them, nothing but error
#247's.

Any clues?
