Again, sorry for the spam if this shows up several times. I'm having a heck
of a time with hotmail...

Torsten,

This is fascinating information for (at least some of) us Americans. Can
you add it to the CoCo Wiki (www.coco25.com)?

Also, there was an article/chapter in the book "Digital Deli" which mentions
computer phrases in English the French government banned in 1981. The link
is at http://www.atariarchives.org/deli/micro_english.php. Heh - "RAM" and
"ROM" were banned...

On a related note, I think the Atari archives site is amazing. Many people
have spent hours and hours scanning old books long out of print. I wish our
user base was filled with people with more time to complete projects like
this for the Coco. Getting the books into text format seems the key to
keeping bandwidth costs down, but at the expense of lots of man-hours of
typing, correcting and formatting.

No. It was the French version. All French CoCos (at least models 1b, 2,
2b) & the MC-10 have an RGB SCART ("péritel") connector. The French
MC-10 is really rare because TANDY licensed the design to Matra Hachette
and it was released as the "Alice", a red MC-10 clone & lookalike.
Another difference for both the MC-10 and the Alice is the "AZERTY"
keyboard. AFAIR there was a law in France in the early 80s which allowed
only computers with péritel connector (a french idea) and the AZERTY
keayboard layout to be sold. Foreign companies had to change their
designs to enter the french market (and many didn't which was the
idea... :-)).
