It has the additional problem of only being able to use 1 of those 40 
pins for ground.  The MPI, and all the cartridges I've seen, all make 
heavy use of the ears on both sides of the finger pattern engaging 
into the ground clips on both ends of the socket on the motherboard.

Without that extra grounding, even a single card plugged into this Y 
cable always resulted in a miss-fire and crash in short order for me.
