You got that right. My life is upside down right now and pretty much has
been since August. Still looking for full time work somewhere and Vintage
Fun World is keeping me busy enough, which leaves little time for other
projects like MiniHog. I decided a while ago to finally use the SSC to make
the music and sound, but you will need a modified SSC (to run in high speed
mode) to use it. When I decided to do this, I was set to make music with
the SSC to find that there is no program or anything really to easily make
music with this piece of hardware. Also there is the fact, that there is
very little storage space in the SSC to store the musical data. 64 bytes
per buffer with 8 buffers in total that gives you a grand total of 512 bytes
of memory to store your music and with each note taking up 3 to 4 and maybe
more bytes each, that isn't enough, especially when you're doing 3 part
harmony. I've devised a theory though to "cycle" the data in the buffer
from CoCo memory to the SSC memory while it is playing however and have yet
to try it. It will be attempted with my SSC SoundTracker program. Yep,
that's right. Been working on it for the past few weeks and it's been going
pretty well. I am writing this program to create music easily with the SSC
AND to write the music for MiniHog as well. It's about time somebody wrote
a program for the SSC to make music easily with it. Unless there is
something else out there for it that I don't know about in some Rainbow
magazine, I wonder why it hadn't been done before.
