I guess I should sign on to edit this page. That measurement is a
back-formation from the liquid gallon, and has never had an actual
existence. The U.S. government document referenced by knowledgedoor (Vern's
post) does not include a dry gallon either. So... anybody know a real-life
use of this name for 1/2 peck? (Web references don't count -- an actual
package marked "dry gallon" would.)
