With modern hardware, not too much.  A good hard drive, ramdisk or cf 
should be able to do a meg  in 9-13 seconds on a 6309'd coco, 
somewhat longer on a 6809, and is primarily limited by how fast the 
cpu can copy data from point a to point b, and thats so much slower 
than todays hardware can do that the coco is 99% of the slowdown from 
say 40megs/second that the primary drive on this machine can do 
useing DMA, which is not available on the coco.
