Yes, and this also let Graphicom read or save a whole image in one disk 
operation, quite a bit faster.  That was one amazing program for the Coco 1 and 2 
-- sort of an integrated desktop app.  

ISTR its author documented the oddball disk format, gave the reasons for it, 
and so it wasn't a proprietary or anti-piracty thing.  The program itself, 
IIRC, was not copy protected.  --Mike K.
