Chris:

As another Washingtonian (I prefer "Webfoot") I too 
remember the snow lasting a lot longer and more of it too. 
 Of course I've been around a little longer than you too 
:)  I think alot of what you say about there being less 
snow may be due in part to the thermal zone that is 
created from the Seattle area (Tacoma and Everett too) 
 Studies have shown it is making an inpact on the weather. 
 I also remember my history classes where there were 
stories of Puget Sound freezing over.
