First off, thank you to everyone who came out to hear me in Harrisonburg,
VA, The XFS festival in PA and Brewers Alley in Frederick, MD. Hello and big
ups to new friends Nik, Rod, Jonah and Brooks. I drove 1,667 miles in four
days, caught up with 6 old friends, saw the ocean and Hamburg, PA and
managed to give myself jet lag on an all night drive home.

All told, a great weekend.

Followed by another one: This weekend (well tomorrow) I will be performing
at Riverbend, the gigantic, water-front festival that brings literally
hundreds of thousands of people downtown, that most of my local friends
SWEAR they hate (and yet always seem to attend). I guess I'm not a
legitimate Chattanoogan yet 'cuz I think it's an awesome experience that
shows off our fair city in it's best light.

I'll be playing with Joe Dicosimo, who is a young and very talented
"tradition bearer". See, Joe's been studying up on the regional fiddle
styles of old-school fiddlers in the hills around Chatt' (His work is in the
state archives) and he has an encyclopedic knowledge of old-time music,
especially in Tennessee.

Tho' it doesn't sound like it at all, what I do is based in old-time and
traditional music, so we're gonna mix up what we do and find the places
where we overlap. I am VERY excited about this meeting, and considering that
he's leaving town soon, this may very well be the only time that it happens.

Then Sunday starts the indescribable Kentucky Music Week, if you're not
already registered, now is the time to do so. If you've been, what words can
I find to describe it? GO! You won't regret it, and you’ll never forget it.

Finally, I'm returning to Chicago, to that ultra-cool coffeehouse, Uncommon
Ground. Not only has it been host to some of the best folk artists and
singer-songwriters around, the food there is nothing short of stunning.
Staying for dinner gets you the best seats and I don't have a CLUE who else
is on the bill, but this is like one of those places where that's hardly
gonna matter.

So to recap:

Nightfall Tomorrow (well today really)

KMW all next week

Saturday I'm in Chicago

C-ya out there.
