Hello all:

Earlier this week, I got together with my friend Charles Allison at
his studio and did some recording. The idea was that we would
collaborate on a tune, make that available as a "pay-what-you-want"
download, and send all the money to Haiti relief efforts. It's right
on my homepage http://www.butchross.com

The song is called Chiaroscuro it means "light from dark." The song
was composed on the dulcimer, and that's the first instrument we
recorded, everything else in the song stems from that. It's a pretty
cinematic arrangement, with the dulcimer not very prominently
featured, but it's in there.

Over time, I hope to add a few more tunes as well. Charles may be
working on a vocal version of it for his "song of the week project"
and I hope to add either live tracks or remixed ones (or both) on the
site as well (when I'm gonna find the time to do this, I don't know).

There are links to ADRA and Doctors Without Borders, these are the
organizations I'll be giving the money to. I chose these organizations
based on their immediate effectiveness: ADRA donates 100% of
donations, (they take out no administration costs, and don't
proselytize) and Doctors without borders was already running three
hospitals in Haiti when the quake struck.

Also, other musicians are beginning to do this as well. I'll post
links to them as they do.

Again, you can pay as little or as much as you like for the tune, all
the proceeds go to people who really need it.

Thanks.
