[Coco] DE-1 Control Panel woes

Hi Dave, et al.

I'm inclined to think that Terasic have altered the firmware in the EPM3128 CPLD which
provides the USB Blaster functionality at least one (or more) times.

I have had two DE1's on the bench at one point which each required a *different* control panel version
to operate correctly, even though I was using the same version of Quartus.

---

Some of the earlier Control Panel versions seem to only work with a 32-bit version of Quartus.

Q2 V13.0sp1 installs both 32 *and* 64 versions by default (on Windoze anyway, don't know about linux), so that can also be a source of frustration.
I keep a VM Windows XP 32-bit Q2 install handy for that very reason.

---

It's just a shame that Terasic have never publicly released any details of which Control Panel versions are designed to work
with which revisions of the DE1 board, or which Quartus version :(

Might be an idea to collect all version of the DE1 Control Panel application over in the files are of the coco3fpga group?

Regards,
Leslie

It’s *definitely* a problem with the control panel software. The DE1 board itself is not to blame.
