I found a stash of 512kB FLASH EPROMs 29f040b, for $.36 a piece, if I 
recall, in plcc32 as well.

Looks like plcc44 63c09s are 2.99/pc, but DIP40 is $1.24/pc.  Even with 
the requisite dip40 socket, it still seems cheaper to do DIP.
