I think the received opinion is artefact colours are also pretty good on XRoar. :)

While BEST is subjective, there are some real differences in the Coco emulators.
1) MAME/MESS requires an OS-9 disk to have the .os9 extension while JVC and VCC are happy with .dsk
for all.
2) MAME/MESS by far does a better job of displaying artifact colors than the other emulators.
3) MAME/MESS has an excellent debugger which permits you to change memory content, single step
through code, and dump to a text file what code was run between any two instances in time.
4) VCC permits easy access to real disks on a PC during emulation. MAME/MESS and JVC require support
programs.
5) MAME/MESS support for the Coco is now meager at best and current versions do not work as well as
some older ones. JVC no longer has any support.
6) You may need some PC tricks to get all emulators to run under WinXP and newer versions of Windows.
