Making a 6809 code routine would not be that diffecult.

some address space decoding for a pia (6821) ( 4 subseqent addresses I
believe it needs and hook up the chip.

Looks like it is all done in direct addressing mode, so  lda# <number>
would load the accumelator A with the <number> ans sta, <n> would place it
where you want it on the ports to control the chip.
