Can't help you with source directly, but the following platforms run on a 
6809 and have AY-3-8910 for sound. You could disassemble the relevant parts 
of those...

* Son Son (arcade)
* Juno First (arcade)
* Vectrex (home console)

For the latter, there's a sound programming tutorial with source. They're 
all BIOS calls, but the BIOS has also been commented if you search around...
