Hi, All:
Thanks for all of the introductions - it really brings some life to this list! It would be great to hear from others as you have time. Thanks, as well, to Al for sponsoring this list.
As for myself, I'm in my second year of studies at ACCHS in Oakland, CA. A great school, me thinks! The school started a special "night program" a year and a half ago for those of us insane enough to want to work full time during the day, and go to school at night. It's a pretty intense program, about 3/4 time. So instead of finishing in three years, we finish in four (if we're lucky).
I start clinic (observing) in a few weeks, and I'm petrified. I've been in classes for a year and a half, but I feel as though I know nothing!! Anyone else have a similar reaction on entering clinic?
I began my studies in TCM in mid-life. I've worked for years for the largest health plan/hospital empire in California (can you guess which one?) as a Programmer/Analyst. I've done body work on the side for a number of years - Tui Na and Acupressure - and finally decided to go for what my heart yearns for! It's funny how many programmers I've met in TCM - I guess it somehow fits.
I look forward to some great dialogue in this group. It would be interesting to share some actual cases with each other. We get a lot of the "basics" in the first couple of years of classes, and often don't get to see the whole picture as to how it applies to the actual human person. Case studies make the whole art of TCM come alive (at least for me).
Anyway, looking forward to sharing with everyone.
