[Papyrus-L] ".NEW" file and Word 2000 /Win XP

Maybe I should have waited (but it is 2am after all).
I think you're right John, and I think specifically in this case (wouldn't do anything after opening the .NEW document) it was because of the footnotes, some of which had citations in. I managed to open it with WordPad and then into Word, but lost the footers.
The solution I just found was to save the pre-text extract file as a Word 6/95 document. Run everything as usual and then reconvert after editing and pasting in the reference list.
Hope it helps someone else.
Sue

I think the problem is Word, as usual. If I'm forced to work in Word, as
in a collaboration, I convert to WordPerfect and save as a WP
file. Papyrus has had no problem handling these files. Then I convert
back to Word. Forget RTF- Word long lost interest in a common RTF language,
typical for microcephalicsofthead .
if anyone has a better solution....!
