[Papyrus-L] XPXP + Papyrus

Dear Yvonne,

A 7.6MB document is indeed impressive! When you say "table format" do I
infer that this is some sort of grant application template that you're
filling out and it's in the form of a large table? They've given me a few
grey hairs, with interesting formatting issues!? While I cannot help
directly vis a vis XP, a possibility might be this...

If you have a copy of the document in its original (98/2000) format you may
be able to open it using the OpenOffice.org word processor and re-save it
as 97/2000/XP format. I have had occasion to use OO.o successfully for a
variety of such "rescue missions" as have a number of my
colleagues. OpenOffice.org is available as a free download from
www.openoffice.org and it has a free/paid-support counterpart in its
parent, StarOffice. I don't know how Papyrus fares with OO.o (Dave -- any
thoughts?) so it might be possible to do your task entirely in OO.o

Geographically I'm in Australia and I presume, without looking at mail
headers, that you're probably in the USA and most likely at an educational
institution, too, so I'm sure you'll find many people who have OO.o who
would be willing to help much more closely at hand. I do know that Office
97 and OO.o peacefully co-exist under Windows 95/98/NT4 but I cannot speak
for interactions with Office2000 or XP under any operating system. Hence
I'd be a little wary of loading it onto a mission-critical XP system in
case Mr Gates gets offended <smile>

Apologies to you, and the list, if I have misinterpreted the nature of your
problem.
Denis
