[Papyrus-L] scanner and ocr?

Greetings:

I would like to be able to scan in the first page of all my references,
convert with OCR to text, and then have Papyrus collect and collate these
into references with abstracts.
Has anyone out there already done?  If so, would you be willing to provide
some useful tips?
Any recommendations in general as to scanning hardware and software (for
both scanning and OCR)?
